Brownie Layer:

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted

  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 2 large eggs

  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

  • ½ cup all-purpose flour

  • ¼ tsp salt

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract


Cookie Layer:

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened

  • ½ cup brown sugar

  • ¼ cup white sugar

  • 1 large egg

  • 1¼ cups all-purpose flour

  • ½ tsp baking soda

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ¾ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips


Instructions

1. Make the Brownie Batter

  • In a medium bowl, whisk melted butter and sugar until combined.

  • Add eggs and vanilla, and whisk until smooth.

  • Sift in cocoa powder, flour, and salt. Stir until just combined.

  • Do not overmix—just until no dry streaks remain.


2. Prepare the Cookie Dough

  • In another bowl, cream softened butter, brown sugar, and white sugar until light and fluffy.

  • Add in the egg and vanilla extract. Beat until smooth.

  • Mix in flour, baking soda, and salt.

  • Fold in chocolate chips.

💡 Pro Tip: Chill cookie dough in the fridge for 10 minutes while you prepare the pan.


3. Layer the Batters

  • Line a square baking pan with parchment paper.

  • Spread the brownie batter evenly at the bottom.

  • Dollop spoonfuls of cookie dough over the brownie layer.

  • Gently press cookie dough flat with a spatula or fingers.


4. Bake

 

  • Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 30–35 minutes.

  • Check doneness with a toothpick—it should come out with moist crumbs, not raw batter.

  • Cool completely on a wire rack before slicing.
